Organizations once sidelined for their “niche” causes now have unprecedented opportunities to get attention, attract participation and support, and effect change. But competition for understanding, leadership, and dollars is heating up.

Climate change. Biodiversity. Environmental triggers for chronic diseases. Topics once discussed only by small groups of conservationists and scientists are now mainstream. Everyone is looking for new ideas, new practices, and answers—and the people and dollars to support their efforts.

“Green” agendas are emerging as points of differentiation in many sectors, not just the traditional arena of nonprofits, like World Wildlife Fund and The Nature Conservancy. To take advantage of this opportunity, organizations committed to advancing conservation and sustainability agendas must get in front of more people and make their messages appealing and compelling to a wider range of backgrounds, interests, and abilities. But environmental organizations often face the realities of limited dollars and personnel, volunteer efforts that are sincere but sometimes less than fully professional, and communication practices that are often less well-honed than their science and programs.

We work with environmental organizations like Mass Audubon, New England Wild Flower Society, and the City of Boston (on their Green Building Task Force and Climate Action Plan), to create brands, communication programs, and capital campaigns that help to convincingly articulate meaningful missions, attract members and partners, increase philanthropic support, and, ultimately, advance crucial environmental causes.

Working closely with your leadership and communications personnel, we develop communications architectures that you can sustain; develop message systems that enable staff and volunteers to be more effective ambassadors; and evolve communication strategies and pieces that enable you to better connect with those people whose interest and support is important for your growth—and sustainability.
